Cinemagraphs are still images or photographs in which you see a repeated movement, forming a short video loop. It's widely used online, specially on social networks as Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook and on websites. When cinemagraph appeared on 2011 it was only used as a mean to loop a still photography with a subtle movement, but other techniques and styles were incorporated and it is now a very distinct, creative and relatively cheap way to achieve an interesting impact on images.
